Welcome to our classroom!!!
Hello!!! Welcome to my web page! My name is Mrs. Albert. I have been teaching for 16 years in various school districts before coming to Hoquiam to teach in 2015. This is my 3rd year in the Hoquiam School District. I am thrilled to be at Central and I am honored to beable to work with a great bunch of students an adults.
This is going to be a fun-filled and exciting year in Room 109!!! I'm so excited to meet everyone and get settled into a routine.
I have some Project Based Assessments, STEAM(Science, Technology, Enginering, Art, Mathematics) activities, as well as other opportunities to show student learning in a various of fun and artistic ways planned throughout the year.
Here's a quick overview of the key concepts we will be coving this year:
Math- Fractions (equivalent fractions, common denominators, adding, subtraction, multiplying and dividing fractions), Decimals (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing), Measurements (converting lengths, volume). Students will continue to work on mastery of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts.
Reading-Accurately quoting from text, story elements, compare and contrast. Students will work on increasing reading fluency. The end of the year goal is to read 130+ words accurately per minute. Students will continue to develop comprehension skills, as well as begin working on reading for meaning in all content areas.
Writing-Students will continue to develop writing skills, and write in all content areas. Vocabulary instrution will focus on content vocabulary in both reading and math.
I will have a handbook that will be sent home with your student on the first day of school that will also cover all this and more.
